InnerRhythms One-on-One Interaction Guidelines

Executive Director, instructors, and staff must pass background check and be fingerprinted. Executive Director will oversee students, instructors, and staff to ensure these rules are followed.

Below are the rules dictating interactions between students, instructors, and staff:

1. Private Lessons and Coaching
Allowed: Private lessons are permitted if scheduled through the studio and held in designated areas. Parents or guardians should be notified and given the option to observe.
Not Allowed: Instructors should avoid unscheduled or informal private sessions with students without prior studio approval.

2. Meetings and Consultations
Allowed: One-on-one meetings to discuss progress or address student concerns may be conducted in open areas where others are present or within view.
Conditions: Meetings held in private rooms should have an open door or windows that allow visibility, with a parent or studio staff member informed of the meeting.

3. Physical Assistance for Dance Technique
Allowed: Instructors may provide physical guidance for technique correction in group settings or private lessons, with clear communication beforehand about the intended correction.
Not Allowed: Repeated or prolonged physical contact is discouraged; instructors should always ask for consent before hands-on assistance, particularly in one-on-one settings.

4. Outside Studio Interactions
Not Allowed: Social interactions between instructors and students outside of studio-organized events or classes are prohibited unless part of a formal studio event with parental or guardian consent.
Exceptions: Pre-approved, structured events (e.g., performance outings, rehearsals) organized by the studio and chaperoned by other adults.

5. Digital Communication
Allowed: Communication regarding scheduling, class updates, or assignments through studio-monitored channels (email or group messaging apps). Instructors may communicate with students directly via phone or text only if the student is over 18 or the studio has written consent from the parent.
Not Allowed: Direct personal messaging or private social media communication between instructors and students is not allowed. Text or phone communication may be authorized if the student is over 18 or the studio has received written parental consent that the teacher may contact the student.

6. Transportation
Not Allowed: Instructors should not transport students alone. Transportation is permitted only if it’s part of a studio-organized event and if two or more students are present or a guardian has provided explicit consent.

7. Emergency Situations
Allowed: In emergency situations requiring immediate one-on-one attention, the instructor may assist but should notify a guardian or studio staff member as soon as possible.

8. Special Circumstances for Young Students or Students with Additional Needs
Allowed: One-on-one interactions are permitted when providing extra support to young or special-needs students, but these sessions should be in open areas or with another adult present, if possible.
