DANCING WITH OUR SIERRA STARS 2025
Dominique Apollon
Community Education & Prevention Coordinator, Sierra Community House
Dominique Apollon is a local educator, youth soccer coach and late-blooming artist (Apollo Strum Music, wherever you stream), whom you may not recognize, but the local kids you know just might! As a member of the Violence Prevention Education team at the non-profit organization Sierra Community House, the husband and father of two has worked with hundreds of youth in public and private schools in the Truckee / North Lake Tahoe area. In that role, Dom helps to facilitate age-appropriate presentations or small group sessions for kindergartners on up to high school seniors, and beyond, on topics many adults like to, ahem, “dance” around like bullying prevention, recognizing alternatives to anger, teen dating violence, and consent. “Coach Dom” was also recently appointed Alliance Program Director of Truckee AYSO, to help fill the intermediate gap between our area’s excellent recreational soccer and elite club level programs for even more prospective futbolistas. This back-to-back soccer “Referee of the Year” for the local youth soccer league is ready to blow his whistle on the judges if they run afoul of fair play! Game on!
In his spare time, Dom writes and produces original songs on family, mental health and social justice advocacy for his art project, Apollo Strum Music, which can be heard wherever you stream.
