Courtney Henderson

Truckee Town Council Member & Former Mayor & Entrepreneur

Courtney fell in love with Truckee in 2011 – on a mountain biking trip – when she found a sense of community and connection to the land. She planted roots, integrating herself within the community and starting a family. Courtney was elected to Truckee Town Council in 2020, nominated to Vice Mayor, and served as Mayor in 2022. Courtney actively seeks out diverse perspectives on issues that face the Truckee community and is known for being an experienced facilitator, communicator, and listener, adept at building collaborations and partnerships across jurisdictional boundaries.

Professionally, Courtney is an energy, climate, and health strategist. Her work has taken her throughout the United States and as far afield as Western Africa and Northern India. Earlier this year, she founded her own company – Hawks Peak Strategies – which provides strategy and consulting services to the energy industry. She serves on multiple committees, including the Legislative Correspondence Committee, League of California Cities, Truckee Chamber of Commerce, Nevada County Economic Resources Council, Sierra Business Council’s Climate Action and Mitigation Partnership, and others.

Courtney is also a pro-level downhill mountain bike racer, all-around adventure seeker, and mom to a thrill-seeking seven-year-old boy. In her spare time, you can find her exploring local trails, riding, training, and doing pretty much anything that gets her outside.

Come cheer me on and cast your vote in person at Dancing with Our Sierra Stars on May 11 at 6:00pm at the Truckee Rec Center!
